The Cottages of Cross Point Creek offers the convenience of maintenance-provided living in a new urbanism setting and is just minutes from highway access to whisk residents to everything they want or need.

This boutique neighborhood, just west of Interstate 435 at 87th Street Parkway and part of the new urbanism concept of Lenexa City Center, is designed and built exclusively by Tom French Homes. Tom French has more than 35 years of building experience, has won numerous awards and is a Hall of Fame member of the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City.

Lenexa City Center is starting to see exciting activity, according to Susan Hoskinson, who markets Tom French communities for Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate, Kansas City Homes. In City Center East, construction is well underway at the future Hyatt Place Hotel and Lenexa Conference Center. This 125-room hotel will also bring a 6,000-square-foot restaurant to the site abutting Interstate 435. Additionally, City Center East houses Grand Street Café and the French Bee Bakery.

City Center, located on the southwest corner of 87th Street Parkway and Renner Boulevard, is home to Perceptive Software’s world headquarters. To date, two 120,000-square-foot buildings and Renner89, a smaller mixed-use space across the street, have been built. Renner89 currently houses Saints Pub & Patio, an upscale sports bar. Construction is also underway on The Domain, a 200-unit upscale apartment community at 88th Street and Penrose Lane.

In addition to all the great things currently happening at Lenexa City Center, design is underway for a 200,000-square-foot multi-use civic center, where recreational, social and civic opportunities will be plentiful.

Also sparking buyers’ interest in the Cottages of Cross Point Creek is its proximity to the new Cerner Corporation offices at The Legends, a short drive north on Interstate 435. It is also within minutes of Shawnee Mission Park. Golf enthusiasts are minutes from the Canyon Farms Golf Club, Falcon Ridge Golf Course and Smiley’s Golf Complex.

Proximity to Interstate 435 allows residents to quickly reach Kansas City International Airport and downtown Kansas City, as well as destinations in Johnson County and Lawrence.

The single-family villas at the Cottages of Cross Point Creek feature Craftsman exteriors that are reminiscent of cottages found in old Leawood. The low-maintenance exteriors boast Hardie Board siding and vinyl windows, as well as 30-year roofs. Covered porches and decks allow for outdoor entertaining or just relaxing.

Interiors are designed for one-level living with open floor plans featuring the latest in decor with hardwood floors and island kitchens that include designer cabinets, granite counters and custom tile back splashes.

One home is finished, and although sold, may be toured from 12 to 5 p.m. on Sundays or by appointment through April 12.

This home is the Chestnut, a reverse 11/2-story plan with the master suite and an additional bedroom and bath on the main level.

The large entry flows past the second bedroom through an arched doorway into the great room that has a custom fireplace. The open design also features a dining room that opens to a covered deck and an island kitchen. Throughout the home you will find a rich caramel paint scheme, vibrant cabinet stain, glowing hardwood floors and slate tile with glass mosaic accents.

The expansive master suite includes a bath with tile floor and tiled shower, twin vanities and a jetted tub framed by an arched opening with stained corbels. The bath opens to a large walk-in closet and the laundry is conveniently situated across from the master suite.

The lower level includes a recreation room and additional bedroom and bath.

One of the new inventory homes under construction is the Richland ranch plan with a rear-entry garage. This home will be on the Spring Parade of Homes starting April 25. It offers a charming front elevation and a covered rear deck that makes the exterior as enticing as the well-appointed interior.

This home offers an open living area with many custom details. The wainscoted entry flows into a great room with a high ceiling and stately, stained mantel accented with glass and granite mosaic tile.

The island kitchen is enhanced by designer cabinets, granite counter tops and a back splash that features warm-hued tile and glass-tile accents. All bathrooms and the laundry have tile floors.

Maintenance provided by the homeowners association includes lawn mowing, fertilization and weed control; lawn sprinkler system; snow removal including driveways, front sidewalks and porches; maintenance of the common areas and trash collection.

Not only is City Center as a whole seeing promising activity, but so is the Cottages of Cross Point Creek. According to Hoskinson, in the last few weeks, they have sold several homes and taken a lot reservation.

“Those buyers who want to live in and enjoy this new urbanism community should not hesitate as activity is the highest it has ever been,” Hoskinson said.
