Inspired Homes is in the midst of rolling out a powerful technology suite that’s streamlining each part of the building process, from floor plan creation to the construction itself.

Technology continues to have a game-changing impact on a number of industries, and homebuilding is no exception. Sophisticated software with 3D modeling capabilities not only improves builder efficiency, but also delivers a faster, easier customer experience. As Inspired Homes continues to roll out a cutting-edge software package, they’ve already realized these benefits and more, thanks to technology that supports and streamlines each phase of the building process.

The work begins with a program called Revit, which Inspired Homes uses to create three-dimensional floor plans. Todd Lipschutz, president of Inspired Homes, called this “the evolution of architectural plans. Not only do you have 3D drawings, but that data can be extracted and examined from different angles in the dynamic system.”

The company used Revit to create its new collection of floor plans, which launched earlier this year to an eager marketplace. The modern layouts are enhanced with popular features like expanded drop zone areas, kitchen command centers with built-in tech ports and second-story loft spaces. Additionally, the floor plans offer opportunities for customization—adding a bedroom, for example, or a versatile flex space. With the new software, prospective buyers can take control of designing their home, giving them a chance to explore what’s possible before they even set foot into an Inspired Homes community.

“Customers will be able to go on our website, select the community, floor plan and elevation, then select colors, finishes and other features—basically they can design their whole house online,” said Kerry Bowen, purchasing manager, Inspired Homes.

Added Lipschutz, “They can almost build their home with this program, see it, save it on the website, then come in and buy the house. It’s very easy and fluid for the buyers. All the pricing is delivered that day, so there’s no guesswork or time-consuming back-and-forth between the builder and subcontractors.”

Giving customers a faster, more efficient and higher quality experience is something that Inspired Homes takes seriously.

“We’re always looking for ways to become more efficient,” Bowen said. “Having set options with each floor plan speeds up the whole process, from selection through construction. We can build at a faster pace. And customers can review all the options that are possible, giving them more information before they move forward with such a big investment.”

In addition to soon being available on the Inspired Homes website, the virtual home design capabilities will be implemented in each Inspired Homes community, starting with Kensington Farms in Lee’s Summit later this summer. On-site sales offices will be equipped with touchscreen monitors that enable prospective buyers to explore floor plans and homesites, then customize a floor plan for their individual needs.

And once a home is purchased, the comprehensive software package continues to make the process more efficient for all involved. Final floor plans are sent to the architect and engineer, and Lipschutz said he can submit to permit “45 to 60 days faster than normal. All the software syncs together, so we’re able to run a 21st century homebuilding business powered by new technology.”

Technology-enabled efficiency doesn’t just benefit the buyers—it also helps Inspired Homes. The company continues to quickly grow, adding new employees and new homes to a flourishing portfolio of communities. Inspired Homes is currently building in Kensington Farms and Kessler Ridge at New Longview, both in Lee’s Summit; Huntford, located in Olathe; and The Reserve, located in Lenexa.

All of the communities continue to be popular with prospective buyers, thanks to an appealing combination of prime locations, modern floor plans and unmatched affordability. As a result, buyers don’t have to sacrifice quality or craftsmanship to take advantage of a more accessible price point. Factor in the customer-focused building process that includes a dedicated, full-time project manager in each community and a rare warranty package that includes 1-year workmanship, 2-year systems and 10-year structural warranties, and it’s no wonder that Inspired Homes is quickly establishing itself as a leader in the Kansas City homebuilding market.

“Ultimately, we listen to the buyers, so we’ve created a business to provide the best experience and security for the customer,” Lipschutz said.
