There’s nothing better than heading into the wild, camping out and eating s’mores over a roaring campfire. Actually setting up camp, though, is a different story. Sometimes it’s just a pain to put up a tent, especially after a long day of driving or hiking. And if you’re trying to do it under less-than-ideal weather conditions, like in sudden winds or a rainstorm, things can get downright frustrating.

That’s where pop-up tents like Coleman’s Instant Tent come in. Compressed to a slim circle, this cozy pop-up tent is easy to transport in a car, and it sets up in literal seconds. Plus, it has all the features and toughness you’d want in a regular tent, minus the struggles of setting one up. And at a limited-time holiday discount of over $20 off its original price, it’s a great time to snap one up for friends and family, or for your next trek!

Let’s get this out of the way up front: It takes a few tries to learn how to close the Coleman Pop-Up Instant Tent once it’s open. (We recommend trying it out at home before venturing out with it, and checking out Coleman’s instructional video.) But once you have the hang of it, you’ll be impressed by how little time it takes to do it — usually around 30 seconds. Opening the tent couldn’t be easier; just remove it from the carrying case, undo the strap and it snaps open, ready to stake down! Compare that to the 10-15 minutes it takes to set up a traditional tent, and you’ll know why this pop-up tent is a good value.

But lest you think this is just a gimmicky item, Coleman hasn’t skimped on construction and functionality, either. The poles and guy-out triangles are built to stand up to winds, the fabric holds up to rain, and the interior floor is waterproof, so you don’t have to worry about water seeping in from beneath you. The tent also has a rainfly over the top that you can remove if you’re camping in warm conditions (i.e., at the beach).

Inside the Coleman Pop-Up Tent is enough space to house two people comfortably; we tried out a full-size inflatable mattress inside and it was a perfect fit. If you’re camping or trekking by yourself, this tent is more than spacious enough to accommodate you and a bunch of supplies. We also like the two-layered front door, with its weather-resistant outer layer and mesh inner-layer for when you want to let in some ventilation or sun without also inviting in unwanted insects. And we should emphasize that this is one lightweight tent that’s easy to carry and move around, and anyone who’s dealt with dirt, leaves and other debris clinging to a tent will appreciate how you can clean the Coleman by lifting it up and giving it a few vigorous shakes.

So, whether you’re an experienced trekker or just want to get out for a relaxing weekend, the Coleman Pop-Up Instant Tent is a great practical option for camping trips, saving you time while giving you solid protection from the elements. Get it now from Amazon while it’s on sale!
