Matty Healy's Mom Confirms When He and Gabbriette Are Getting Married

Marry Healy's mom, Denise Welch, revealed when the singer and fiancée Gabbriette Bechtel are set to tie the knot.

"Matty lives in Los Angeles, the boys aren't in each other's pockets but they're there for each other," Welch, 68, shared during a "Tom's Hirschsprung's Podcast" appearance on Thursday, May 21. "Matty gets married in July, which we're very excited about."

She added, "I'm very excited about that, that's wonderful."

Healy, The 1975 frontman, moved on with Bechtel, 28, in September 2023, following his split from Taylor Swift. Bechtel confirmed their engagement in June 2024 by showing off her ring on Instagram.

Welch, meanwhile, spoke candidly about the proposal during U.K's Loose Women after Healy and Bechtel went public with the news.

"I woke up this morning to the fact that they put it on Instagram," Welch said at the time. "Instagram official! He's got engaged to Gabriella Bechtel, Gabbriette she's known as."

Welch added, "I couldn't be more thrilled. She's from Los Angeles, she's absolutely gorgeous. She is everything that I would want in a daughter-in-law, and so I'm thrilled."

The following month Bechtel teased her future with Healy, revealing that she's already started thinking about motherhood.

"When I have kids, it's going to be: dinner every night - no phones - to celebrate the smaller things and recognize people's happiness," she told British Vogue in a July 2024 profile.

During the same interview, Bechtel received a phone call from Healy. She briefly discussed their relationship after hanging up.

"I love being in love," she gushed. "When I thought that I was in love before it was just me being a person of service to somebody else."

Two years later, Bechtel teamed up with Jimmy Choo for a bridal campaign and shared her secrets to a successful engagement.

"Act like you're surprised, even if you know the proposal's coming," she said in a video for the brand, released this past February. "Your ring should bling. And if it doesn't - upgrade."

Another rule - one that it seems she might follow - is "one pair of shoes is never enough" for the wedding.

"One for the pre-party, one for the wedding, the afterparty, one for the after-afterparty," she added, noting that a wedding is "a celebration, not a performance."

Bechtel's final note as she geared up for her own wedding was, possibly, the most important.

"Remember, this is about love - and looking hot," she quipped. "But mainly about love."
