Hello Yellow Brick Road: Elton John heading back to Kansas City, but it’ll be awhile
Pop icon Elton John will return to Kansas City on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, but don’t get too excited just yet.
The rescheduled date at the T-Mobile Center is Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022.
John performed at the then-Sprint Center on Feb. 13, 2019, in the early stages of the tour and was scheduled to return July 8. The COVID-19 pandemic wiped out that date and dozens of others this year and next on the tour.
On Wednesday, John, 73, announced 24 new dates, beginning Sept. 1, 2021, in Berlin. After four months in Europe, he will begin touring the United States on Jan. 19, 2022, in New Orleans. The tour kicked off in September 2018 and was to consist of more than 300 shows across five continents.
“I’ve been enjoying my time at home with the family while the world navigates its way through the COVID pandemic,” John said via social media. “But I really miss being on the road and performing for my beloved fans in my Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour.
“While the scientists are making great progress, we are making big plans for a return to touring that will allow us to ensure the health and safety of everyone.”
Tickets purchased for the original date are valid, though a link to AEG Presents indicates ticketholders now have 30 days to request refunds. Ticket prices listed on the T-Mobile Center website are $69.50, $124.50 and $224.50, and seats remained available as of Wednesday afternoon.
