A legendary concert is set to return to the University of Kansas, almost 20 years after it last played on campus.

Officials with the university and Lawrence-based independent event promoter Mammoth Live announced the return of Day on the Hill for Tuesday, Oct. 6. The headlining act is Grammy-award winning hardcore punk band Turnstile, joined by St. Louis-born pop artist Slayyyter and Austin, Texas-based rock band Die Spitz.

“We are beyond excited to help revive the spirit of this iconic event in modern times,” Mammoth Live co-founder Josh Hunt said in a statement. “We feel we couldn’t have asked for a better lineup in 2026 to honor this Kansas tradition.”

The first Day on the Hill happened in 1992 with legendary grunge rock band Pearl Jam, who were fresh off the release of their 1991 debut album, “Ten,” which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard top 100 charts. The annual concert series began because the University of Kansas Student Union Activities had leftover budget money for student programs.

Other popular acts that appeared in Lawrence as a part of this series include They Might Be Giants and The Urge before it ended in 2007.

Heather Blanck, vice chancellor of strategic growth initiatives and real estate for KU, said in a statement that the university is excited for KU to bring back an experience that celebrates the spirit of their campus and city.

“This event is about bringing people together — from KU students and alumni to music fans across the Greater Kansas City area — and showcasing the Hill as a vibrant destination,” Blanck said.

Tickets for Day on the Hill are on sale now, and can be purchased online. All tickets are general admission and cost between $75.14 and $99.34. The price of tickets will increase over time.

Turnstile is also partnering with PLUS1 so that $1 from every ticket sold will support Community LINC and their work for families across the greater Kansas City area.
