The dry spell for country star Kacey Musgraves may be ongoing, but she’s ending a four-year drought of performing in Kansas City.

“Middle of Nowhere” is the name of her new album releasing Friday, May 1, but it’s also the name of the tour she’s embarking on. She’ll play 30 dates across some of the biggest cities in the United States, including a Wednesday, Sept. 23, stop at T-Mobile Center in KC.

It’s the first appearance by the Golden, Texas, native in Kansas City since 2022, when she also played at T-Mobile Center as a part of a limited 15-city tour titled “star-crossed: unveiled.”

An American Express ticket presale is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, on AXS, with a fan presale following at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 6 (register online now). The public sale is set for 10 am. Friday, May 8. Joining her for her show in Kansas City is country-folk singer Charles Wesley Godwin.

Musgraves, an eight-time Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter, including the 2018 Grammy for Album of the Year, is fresh off a surprise appearance at California-based music festival Coachella. In a press release, she said that her new album, featuring collaborations with Gregory Alan Isakov, Miranda Lambert, Willie Nelson and Billy Strings, was made during the longest single period of her life.

“I found that for the first time, it actually felt incredible being alone and existing in a space not defined by anyone else,” Musgraves said. “I became fascinated with the concept of liminal space, both geographical and emotional.”

Her tour kicks off on Friday, Aug. 21, in Chicago, which is also her 38th birthday. She’ll also play in New York, Seattle, Denver, St. Louis, Los Angeles, and Nashville, Tennessee.
