John Mulaney returns to Kansas City in August. How much are tickets?

Following the success of the first leg of his Mister Whatever Tour, Chicago-born stand-up comedian and former “Saturday Night Live” writer John Mulaney is adding new dates, including a stop in Kansas City.

Starlight Theatre announced that Mulaney, a two-time Emmy-award winner, will perform Sunday, Aug. 16, with a “very special guest.” A Live Nation website promoting Mulaney’s appearance lists comedians Fred Armisen and Mike Birbiglia in the lineup.

“Get ready for an unforgettable night filled with laughter and side-splitting humor from one of today’s most celebrated stand-up comedians,” Starlight said on social media.

Mulaney’s career in comedy began after graduating from Georgetown University in 2004, when he moved to New York City. He began working for “SNL” as a writer in 2008 and continued to write for the sketch comedy show until 2013. He’s since become a member of the show’s Five Timers Club, reserved for guests who’ve hosted the show at least five times.

He’s released numerous stand-up specials since becoming a touring comedian in 2008, including “The Top Part,” “New in Town,” “The Comeback Kid,” “Kid Gorgeous” and “Baby J.” Some of his material covers his struggles with alcoholism and drug abuse.

Mulaney’s also the host of Netflix’s pop-up comedy talk show “Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney,” that aired in 2025, serving as a continuation of the 2024 talk show “Everybody’s in LA with John Mulaney.”

It’s the second time Mulaney will perform at Starlight Theatre, last appearing in July 2022.
