Mulaney’s career in comedy began after graduating from Georgetown University in 2004, when he moved to New York City. He began working for “SNL” as a writer in 2008 and continued to write for the sketch comedy show until 2013. He’s since become a member of the show’s Five Timers Club, reserved for guests who’ve hosted the show at least five times.
He’s released numerous stand-up specials since becoming a touring comedian in 2008, including “The Top Part,” “New in Town,” “The Comeback Kid,” “Kid Gorgeous” and “Baby J.” Some of his material covers his struggles with alcoholism and drug abuse.
Mulaney’s also the host of Netflix’s pop-up comedy talk show “Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney,” that aired in 2025, serving as a continuation of the 2024 talk show “Everybody’s in LA with John Mulaney.”
It’s the second time Mulaney will perform at Starlight Theatre, last appearing in July 2022.
