For first time in 3 years, mgk will perform in Kansas City. Tickets on sale soon

A hip-hop artist-turned-rock musician makes his way back to the Kansas City area four years after selling out T-Mobile Center and three years after headlining Kelce Jam.

As part of his The Lost Americana Tour, mgk, formerly known as Machine Gun Kelly, added new dates, including a show Tuesday, June 23, at Morton Amphitheater in Riverside. He’s the 28th headlining act announced to play at the new outdoor amphitheater backed by entertainment company Live Nation in its first year.

The Cleveland, Ohio-born singer and songwriter isn’t the only well-known name on the tour. Hip-hop superstar Wiz Khalifa is joining him as one of the opening acts. Khalifa, who hails from Pittsburgh, is a frequent visitor to Kansas City, last performing May 29, 2025, at The Truman.

Presale tickets for the venue go on sale at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, using the code UPSTREAM on Ticketmaster. An artist presale is available for fans who sign up on Seated, starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, and Citi cardmembers can buy tickets through a presale that lasts until the end of the day Feb. 12.

Tickets go on sale for the general public Friday, Feb. 13.

The artist’s career as a hip-hop artist started in the late 2000s, and he picked up a dedicated following. His 2012 debut studio album, “Lace Up,” peaked at No. 4 on the U.S. Billboard Top 200 charts.

Feuds with artists Eminem, G-Eazy and Corey Taylor thrust him further into the spotlight, and he entered a high-profile relationship with actress Megan Fox from 2020 to 2024.

The newfound popularity translated to his musical success, as his 2020 pop-punk album “Tickets to My Downfall” debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Top 200 charts. So did his 2022 album “Mainstream Sellout.”

Khalifa enters his 20th year in the music industry, creating worldwide hits like “See You Again,” with Charlie Puth, “Young Wild & Free” with Snoop Dogg and Bruno Mars and “Black and Yellow.” “See You Again,” was at the top of the Billboard charts for 12 non-consecutive weeks and earned the artist three Grammy nominations.
