Two R&B stars are teaming up to perform in the KC area this summer
If you were a hip-hop and R&B fan in the 2000s, it may have been hard to find a hit song that didn’t have singers Akon and Ne-Yo on it. Now, the two will team up for a world tour, which includes a stop in the Kansas City area.
The R&B singers are set to embark on their “Nights Like This” Tour this summer. The duo will make a stop in Riverside on Friday, Aug. 7, at the Morton Amphitheater.
The tour will be a nostalgia rush filled with era-defining hits, as the tour’s promoter Live Nation describes it. Akon has been a part of several top-charting records, including his songs “Smack That,” with Eminem, and “Lonely,” as well as his feature on T-Pain’s “Bartender.”
Ne-Yo, a three-time Grammy winner, has also had his fair share of hit songs, such as “So Sick,” “Because Of You,” and features on tracks like “Give Me Everything” by Pitbull. He also has songwriting credits on other R&B classics, like Beyoncé’s “Irreplaceable.”
When can I get tickets?
A pre-sale began for Citi card members and will be available until 10 p.m. Jan. 29, according to Live Nation. General release for tickets will begin 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30 and can be found on Live Nation’s website.
The Riverside show will be one of 57 stops for the duo.
Akon and Ne-Yo adds onto the growing list of artists coming to Kansas City in 2026, which includes “Weird” Al Yankovic, Cardi B, Guns N’ Roses and more.
