Snoopy lands in Kansas City: Iconic character’s World War I persona stars in free event

As home of the National WWI Museum and Memorial, Kansas City has played host to innumerable exhibitions about the Great War. But never one quite like this.

The character Snoopy from the comic strip “Peanuts” will be the star attraction of a free traveling exhibition running Feb. 8-May 4 at Crown Center.

“Snoopy and the Red Baron” will celebrate the lovable beagle’s persona as a World War I flying ace who manned his doghouse-turned-Sopwith Camel to battle his notorious German rival.

The display from the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center in Santa Rosa, California, will explore the story of the canine flying ace, whom Schulz introduced in 1965, with reproductions of original “Peanuts” comic strips, interactive activities and much more.

Here’s what you need to know if you plan to visit.
