Dinosaurs return to the Kansas City area — sort of. See T. rex and friends this weekend

The T. rex is returning to the Kansas City area.

Jurassic Quest, which has become an annual event in the metro, will bring more than 80 life-size animatronic dinosaurs, including the Tyrannosaurus rex, to the Overland Park Convention Center the first weekend of November.

The show features realistic scenes, a bounce area, dinosaur rides, dino babies, fossil digs, crafts and more.

Here’s what you need to know if you’re planning to attend.

When will Jurassic Quest run?

Hours will be noon-6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1; 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2; 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3.

Where will it be held?

Jurassic Quest will take place at the Overland Park Convention Center, 6000 College Blvd., just north of Lamar Avenue in Overland Park.

How much does it cost?

General admission is $22; children under 2 are free. Rides and activity tickets can be purchased on site. The Kids Ultimate Admission, which includes access to dinosaur rides, fossil digs, inflatables and more, is $36.

Where can I park?

Onsite parking is free. The complex features 1,000 spaces, including 244 in a covered garage. Access the main parking lot from 110th Street on the north side of the building.

Other things to know

Ticket buyers must select an arrival time (9 a.m., noon or 3 p.m.) and can enter whenever they want after that time. They can remain inside as long as they want.

There are no restrictions on strollers and wagons.

Cameras and video recordings are welcome.
