250,000 people expected at Kansas City’s Plaza Art Fair. Here’s what you need to know

You know fall is just around the corner when Kansas City’s biggest art fair returns to the streets of the Country Club Plaza.

The 94th annual Plaza Art Fair is expected to draw more than 250,000 people the weekend of Sept. 20 to view works by about 240 artists from around the nation.

In addition to the paintings, drawings, sculptures and photography, visitors will find three stages of live music, more than 20 restaurant booths and children’s activities.

Here’s what you need to know if you’re planning to go.

When will it run?

Hours will be 5-10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20; 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21; 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22.

Where will it be held?

Booths are set up in the heart of the Country Club Plaza, covering nine city blocks.

What streets will be closed?

Nichols Road between Pennsylvania Avenue and Wyandotte Street, Ward Parkway between Pennsylvania and Central Street, Broadway Boulevard between 47th Street and Ward Parkway, Central Street between Nichols and Ward Parkway.

How much does it cost?

The Plaza Art Fair is free.

Where can I park?

All Country Club Plaza parking garages are open and free to the public.

Will it be safe?

The art fair’s policy on security reads: “The safety and security of Plaza Art Fair patrons is our top priority. We’ve taken every measure to ensure a secure environment. Of course, it is always important to be vigilant and aware of your surroundings. We appreciate your cooperation!”

Other things to know

Dogs are permitted.

Portable toilets will be located at most entrances and exits to the fair area.

The fair is fully accessible to people with mobility concerns.

The fair will go on rain or shine.
