Blink-182 appears in Kansas City one more time. What to know before Friday’s concert

Update: Blink-182 canceled its Kansas City and St. Louis concerts Thursday due to illness.

The California pop-punk superstars of the late ‘90s and early 00s are back in Kansas City one more time.

Blink-182, consisting of Travis Barker, Tom DeLonge and Mark Hoppus, heads to T-Mobile Center on Friday as a part of their One More Time tour, named after the 2023 album. The band continued to make music when the original members split away since forming in 1992, including DeLonge’s absence from the band from 2014 to 2022.

DeLonge was considering retiring from music, but returned to blink-182 after learning of bandmate Hoppus’ cancer diagnosis in 2021. Hoppus has been cancer-free since the year after, and this is their first tour since getting back together.

“I remember telling my wife now, like, ‘I don’t think I’m ever gonna play music again, I don’t think I’m ever gonna tour again,’’’ DeLonge said in a 2023 interview. “Until Mark told me he was sick, and then I was like, that was the only thing I want to do...”

“It wasn’t about fame or money or how big Blink was or anything,” DeLonge said “It was like ‘you’re gonna get through this s---, and we’re gonna go dominate.”

Before you celebrate blink-182’s return with hits like “All The Small Things,” “I Miss You,” “First Date,” and songs from their newest album, here’s what you need to know ahead of Friday.

How much are tickets?

Ticketmaster is sold out of face value tickets, but offer tons of verified resale tickets on its website. Prices start at $95 before fees for a single ticket.

Here’s how the lowest ticket prices compare on resale sites as of Tuesday:

Seating for the show uses the entire arena, meaning no sections are tarped off behind the stage.

Who opens for blink-182?

Blink-182 brings two opening acts to Kansas City: emo rock band Pierce The Veil and progressive rock band Astronoid.

After their previous band broke up, Pierce The Veil was formed by brothers Mike and Vic Fuentes in 2006. Mike is no longer with the band after sexual assault allegations came to light in 2017.

The California-based band found success in the rock scene with hits like “King For A Day,” “Bulls In The Bronx,” and “Circles,” and released their latest album “The Jaws Of Life” in 2023.

Astronoid formed in 2012 in Lowell, Massachusetts, by Brett Boland and Daniel Schwartz. Their latest album “Radiant Bloom,” released in 2022, and they’ve been featured on many year-end best lists by music review sites, like Consequence of Sound and Stereogum.

Where can I park in downtown Kansas City?

Downtown Kansas City has plenty of parking available near T-Mobile Center. The arena offers on-site parking in the red lot at 12th and Oak streets and the yellow lot at 13th Street and Grand Boulevard, which is the KC Live! garage.

You will have to purchase passes to these lots in advance online. Both lots cost $20 before online fees. Event parking opens three hours before the concert.

Other than those, there are over 40,000 parking spaces in the downtown area. Many are paid lots, and you can find free street parking. You can also park farther away and take the free KC Streetcar to the stop 14th and Main streets, the closest to T-Mobile Center.

When does T-Mobile Center open for blink-182?

T-Mobile Center’s website says the doors open at 5:30 p.m. for members of the Founders Club or visitors who have premium plus or VIP ticket access. Visitors who have T-Mobile as a cellphone provider and signed for the service’s Club Magenta pass can enter at 5:45 p.m.

All doors open at 6 p.m. Guests who have VIP and general admission tickets can line up to enter starting at 11 a.m. Friday.

Astronoid plays at 7 p.m., Pierce The Veil takes the stage at 7:45 p.m, and Blink-182 goes on around 9 p.m.

If your cellphone provider is T-Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile or MINT, you can enter through the expedited T-Mobile gate on Grand Boulevard when all doors open.

The venue is cashless, so you can only buy concert merchandise with credit and debit cards or contactless payment methods, like Apple Pay.

What can and can’t I bring to T-Mobile Center?

T-Mobile Center does not have a clear bag policy, but the venue encourages fans to pack lightly when attending. Your bag should not be larger than 12” by 6” by 12”. Don’t bring backpacks or chain wallets.

These other items are not allowed inside:

  • Artificial noisemakers

  • Beach balls and balloons

  • Cameras with detachable lenses

  • Coolers and containers

  • Laptop and tablet computers

  • Outside food and beverages

  • Pocket knives

  • Selfie sticks

  • Spurs

  • Umbrellas with spike-like points

  • Any type of weapon, fake weapon or object resembling a weapon

Where can I get dropped off and picked up for the concert?

Grand Boulevard and Oak Street in front of T-Mobile Center will be blocked off for the concert.

If you’re being dropped off by a family, friend, Uber or Lyft, they can take you as close to the 13th and Oak Street entrance as possible. They may also drop you off on streets that aren’t blocked off in the Power & Light District or farther away if walking isn’t an issue.

The same is true for picking up concertgoers after the show. Communicate with your driver so they can find you once the show’s over.
