Barbara Stuber received the annual Thorpe Menn Literary Excellence Award Saturday for her novel “Girl in Reverse.”
The book details the anxiety of an adopted Chinese girl growing up in 1950s Kansas City.
Poets Arlin Buyert and Alarie Tennille were finalists for their poetry collections, “Oh Say Can You See” and “Running Counterclockwise,” respectively.
Organizers of the 37th annual Menn ceremony, sponsored by the American Association of University Women-Kansas City branch and the Kansas City Public Library, honored the three writers, who were among 25 area writers whose books were considered.
