Kansas City art market returns to Riverside for second year this Saturday
Art Garden KC returns to Riverside for the second annual Riverside ArtWalk Saturday.
Located at the Riverside Welcome Plaza, the one-day outdoor fair features over 30 local artists and businesses selling a variety of handmade goods.
“We’re going to be bringing out a lot of fine art,” said Bethany Alzanadi, CEO and founder of Art Garden KC, the host of Riverside ArtWalk. “But we also like to bring out the things that people may need for their home. We take time to really select high quality vendors for these pop-up markets and showcase the creativity.”
Local sculpture artist Maxyne D’Llachieza of Maxy’s Mind Studios, who has been with Alzanadi’s network for two years, told The Star how outdoor vendor markets have helped artists grow.
“I’ve always wanted to be an artist. Art fairs like these have helped to achieve my goal. I’ve met so many wonderful people that have put me in touch with other fair hosts, like-minded artists and people I am now honored to call my friends,” D’Llachieza said.
Art Garden KC hosts several vendor markets across the metro, including the weekly Sunday art market Art On Walnut in City Market.
But booking a space for dozens of vendors requires a partnership with the area’s network of business leaders.
“Part of the reason I collaborated with Art Garden KC was their accessibility,” said Lorraine Moore, Executive Director of the Riverside Area Chamber of Commerce. “My number one goal is to provide an event that not only Riverside citizens will come to, but that will attract the metro and guests to Riverside.”
Food trucks, clothing and home goods, face paintings and family-friendly activities will all be offered at the annual summer event.
The art market will be open from 10 a.m. — 4 p.m. at 4510 NW Gateway Ave. To find more information on vendors, parking and more, go to artgardenkc.org.
