The dispositions of the thousands of eager celebrants who congregate in the Power & Light District to watch the Royals’ first two playoff games on Thursday and Friday will be markedly different from last year. Royals fans were filled with ecstatic disbelief as the 2014 team made its improbable run from Wild Card underdogs to the seventh game of the World Series. Expectations have changed now that the Royals have concluded the regular season with the best record in the American League. Most of the fans who watch the games on the big screen above the KC Live stage or on televisions in the adjacent bars and restaurants fully expect the Royals to win. A free concert featuring the Welsh band Catfish and the Bottlemen, the Irish rockers Kodaline and the British blues-rocker Jamie N Commons follows the conclusion of Friday’s game.

6:37 p.m. or 7:07 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, KC Live Block. PowerAndLightDistrict.com. Free.
