This Muskoka Cottage From ‘Heated Rivalry’ Will Soon Be Available on Airbnb
The lakeside cottage featured in the Season 1 finale of the romantic drama Heated Rivalry is opening to guests through Airbnb, and the property makes a strong case as a getaway even for travelers who’ve never seen the show.
Barlochan Cottage sits on the shores of Lake Muskoka in Ontario, Canada, and bookings open March 3 at 9 a.m. PT / 12 p.m. ET.
Given the show’s fanbase — Heated Rivalry averages 10.6 million viewers per episode in the U.S., according to Variety — those spots may fill fast.
What the ‘Heated Rivalry’ Cottage Offers
Airbnb announced the listing in a press release published Feb. 24, describing the property as offering “serene views and sounds of Lake Muskoka” with access to a “private dock.”
The cottage sleeps up to six guests across three bedrooms, each outfitted with a queen bed and supported by three full bathrooms.
The private dock comes with three kayaks and two canoes — enough gear for a full day on the lake, whether you paddle out together or one of you stays behind with a book on the shoreline.
The interior features an open-concept kitchen with high ceilings and an island.
“Create familiar, comforting meals from late-night tuna melts to post-workout smoothies in the expansive, fully-equipped kitchen, set against a stunning lakefront backdrop,” Airbnb wrote in the release.
An 8-person dining area sits next to a wood fireplace. A separate gas fireplace anchors the living room. The cottage also includes a rec room with a large TV, an exercise room and a private home gym.
“On cooler nights, curl up with a ginger ale and gather around the central fireplace that anchors the living space, a natural gathering point for warmth and conversation,” Airbnb added in the release.
Outside, a walkout patio and an outdoor fire pit give guests another spot to settle in with a drink as the sun goes down over the lake.
The Price and How to Book
The nightly rate is $248.10 CAD, which works out to about $181 USD.
For a lakefront property in Muskoka with a private dock, watercraft, multiple fireplaces, a gym and three bedrooms, that rate positions the cottage as a competitive vacation rental beyond any novelty factor.
The pricing carries an Easter egg for fans of the show: it references the characters’ jersey numbers. Shane (played by Hudson Williams) wore No. 24 and Ilya (Connor Storrie) wore No. 81, combining for $248.10 CAD per night.
Four early access bookings will be available before the cottage opens for regular booking. Those stays are scheduled for May 8-10, May 16-18, May 22-24 and May 29-31. Guests can book those early stays starting March 3.

Why This Cottage Exists as an Airbnb Listing
Heated Rivalry is a six-episode romantic drama series based on Rachel Reid’s novel of the same name.
It premiered on Nov. 28 on Crave in Canada and HBO Max in the U.S., with new episodes released weekly following the premiere.
The cottage appears in the Season 1 finale. In the episode, the secluded lakeside setting allows characters Ilya and Shane, two rival hockey players, to spend private time together and embrace their relationship.
Season 2 has been officially renewed.
That fan enthusiasm is already translating into real-world travel interest. Since the show premiered, searches for Muskoka properties increased by 40%, according to Airbnb.
The Show References Hidden in the Listing
Airbnb’s listing description is loaded with nods to the series that double as practical selling points.
The tuna melt reference in the kitchen description is a nod to the sandwich Ilya made Shane when he invited Shane to his house for the first time.
The smoothie reference is a nod to the Blue Moon Over Brooklyn smoothie made by character Kip Grady (Robbie G.K.) for Scott Hunter (François Arnaud). Kip added extra bananas for a “wild” touch.
When Ilya was making Shane the tuna melt, he opened his fridge, which was stocked with Ginger Ale — hence Airbnb’s mention of curling up with a ginger ale by the fireplace.
