A big week for live music and festivals in the Kansas City area will feature an event that will combine the two.

Ameri’kana, organized by and starring the local Latin band Making Movies, will take place Sept. 10 at Grinders Crossroads, offering a free community event with bands, vendors and an artisan market from 1 to 4 p.m. That will be followed by a concert at 6 p.m. In addition to Making Movies, performers will include David Hidalgo and Steve Berlin of Los Lobos. Tickets ($20-$75) and more information at celebrateamerikana.com.

Making Movies has been celebrating America’s musical heritage through its Ameri’kana project, including an album and a TV show, for several years. The 2022 event will benefit the music education nonprofit Art as Mentorship.

Among other highlights on the week’s busy entertainment schedule will be four concerts (Luke Bryan, Twenty One Pilots, Michael Bublé and Panic! At The Disco) at the T-Mobile Center and four more, plus two comedy events, at the Uptown Theater. Also, there will be plenty of free things to do, including festivals for every taste.

Crooner Michael Bublé will perform Sept. 10 in one of the four concerts at the T-Mobile Center during the upcoming week.
