Music fans who are old enough to remember when Theis Park was called, unofficially, Volker Park can take a step back in time this weekend.

A hippie hangout in the 1970s, the park was the venue of memorable free music events known as Sundays in the Park. They have returned this summer, and the next one will feature one of the area’s favorite acts of the 1970s — beloved folk singer Danny Cox. Also playing will be Jason Vivone and the Billy Bats and Noah & the Professor.

Music will begin at 1 p.m. June 26 at Theis Park, across from the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. More information at facebook.com/groups/80171242711.

Another concert is expected sometime later this summer.

Longtime local musician Danny Cox will perform at the resurrected Sunday in the Park on June 26 at Theis Park.
