Christmas weekend typically has a dearth of entertainment opportunities, but this weekend will be a chance to take in some holiday shows, light displays and Santa visits before it’s too late.

Two of the area’s most popular holiday shows will close in coming days: the Kansas City Ballet’s popular “The Nutcracker” and the Kansas City Repertory Theatre’s production of “A Christmas Carol.”

Also, Santa Claus will conclude his stay at Santa’s Gingerbread Station in Crown Center, and the “Holiday Reflections” walk-thru village will end its run at Union Station’s Grand Plaza.

Be sure to check venues’ websites for mask and vaccine requirements as well as other COVID-19 protocols.

The Kansas City Ballet’s annual presentation of “The Nutcracker” at the Kauffman Center will run through Dec. 24.
