Those who listen to NPR’s “Wait, Wait … Don’t Tell Me!” or watched Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart” know Mo Rocca has a wicked sense of humor. He exhibits it in “Mobituaries: Great Lives Worth Retelling,” an entertaining book about dead people (and things). Rocca will discuss his best-seller with Emmy-award winning journalist Matt Stewart, then will sign books afterward. 816-268-8000. trumanlibraryinstitute.org. The event is sold out.

While the men’s tournament was set to begin Wednesday at the Sprint Center, the Big 12 Conference women’s championships will return to Municipal Auditorium after an eight-year absence. But not much has changed in that time. Baylor was the team to beat in 2012 and, as the No. 1 seed, also will be in 2020. Full-tournament tickets are $70-$90 and single-session general-admission tickets are $10 through sportkc.org/big12wbb.

The Harriman-Jewell Series will present perhaps the world’s most ballyhooed pianist. The Times of London called Daniil Trifonov “without question the most astounding pianist of our age,” and The New York Times wrote, “Few artists have burst onto the classical music scene in recent years with the incandescence of the pianist Daniil Trifonov.” The 28-year-old Russian won a Grammy Award in 2018 for best instrumental solo album and was Musical America’s 2019 artist of the year. 816-415-5025. Tickets are $31.50-$82 through hjseries.org.

The native of Akron, Ohio, who now lives in Los Angeles has appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “Conan” and was a recurring performer on the TruTV series “Adam Ruins Everything.” 816-326-8776. Moffat joined the “SNL” cast in 2016 and is perhaps best known for the Guy Who Just Bought a Boat.
