Chance the Rapper to headline KC charity show, Jason Sudeikis announces on ‘Ellen’
Chance the Rapper will headline the second annual Thundergong! charity show in Kansas City on Nov. 3, organizer, emcee and Kansas City homeboy Jason Sudeikis announced Wednesday on the “The Ellen Show” (after he talked about his kids).
The multi-genre show at the Uptown Theater benefits Steps of Faith, which helps people get needed prosthetic arms and legs they would not otherwise be able to afford. Thundergong! grew out of Sudeikis’ friendship with drummer Billy Brimblecom, who lost his left leg to cancer.
This year’s event will again feature Sudeikis’ fellow “Saturday Night Live” alum Will Forte, as well as Sam Richardson from “Veep” and “Detroiters.” Other guests are to be announced.
Tickets for Thundergong! are available on Ticketmaster now.
In addition to being a hip-hop superstar, Chance the Rapper, aka Chancelor Bennett from Chicago, is also known for his philanthropy benefiting Chicago public schools. His addition to Thundergong! wasn’t public until Sudeikis told Ellen DeGeneres.
DeGeneres presented Sudeikis a check for $20,000 for Steps of Faith, but only after he showed off a wide range of dance moves.
The actor/comedian has been growing out his hair, and he demonstrated the various looks he can pull off, including Prince, Rachel (aka Jennifer Aniston from her “Friends” days) and Bradley Cooper in “A Star Is Born.”
