Michelle Obama tells Ellen DeGeneres what Melania Trump gave her in that blue box
In her first TV interview since leaving the White House, former first lady Michelle Obama tells Ellen DeGeneres what was in the blue Tiffany’s box that Melania Trump gave her on Inauguration Day.
People really wanted to know.

The gift exchange stands out among the day’s activities for a couple of reasons.
For one thing, after their black SUV pulled up to the White House, Donald Trump got out and walked up the steps alone to meet the Obamas, leaving Melania behind to walk up with an assist from President Barack Obama.

For another, Michelle Obama seemed perplexed about what to do with the big Tiffany box after Melania handed it to her.
Here’s why.
“There is all this protocol,” Obama says in a clip from Thursday’s episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
“I mean, this is like a state visit, so they tell you that you’re gonna do this, they’re gonna stand here. Never before do you get this gift, so I’m sort of like: ‘Okay, where… ? What am I supposed to do with this gift?’”
“Everyone cleared out, and no one would come and take the box. I’m thinking: ‘Do we take the picture?’ And then my husband saved the day,” she said as she watched a video clip of the gift exchange.
“See? He grabbed the box and took it back inside. But everybody cleared out — no staff, no one. I was like, ‘What do you do with the box?’”
So what was in the box?
“It was a lovely frame,” Obama said.
She appeared on the show on the first of a two-day celebration of DeGeneres’ 60th birthday, according to Entertainment Weekly. Jennifer Aniston also shows up to help DeGeneres celebrate.
I knew my 60th birthday show was gonna be fun, but I didn’t know it’d be this fun. See it all Thursday and Friday. @MichelleObama pic.twitter.com/fwcdEXrino
