  • Ross, a former Alabama transfer, had not played in K-State’s first two games.
  • K-State issued no further comment as team prepares for Army matchup Saturday.

Jayshawn Ross is no longer listed on the Kansas State football roster.

A K-State team spokesperson confirmed on Thursday that Ross was removed from the team one day after he was arrested for distributing between 25 and 450 grams of marijuana in Crawford County, which is located hours away from campus in southeast Kansas.

Ross was arrested by the Arma Police Department at 4:50 a.m. on Wednesday. His bond was set at $15,000.

The Wildcats parted ways with him shortly after. K-State issued no further statement on the matter.

Ross is a 6-foot-3 and 222-pound freshman defensive end from Kansas City who attended Liberty North High School. He began his college football career at Alabama and transferred to K-State after spending one season with the Crimson Tide.

As a high-profile transfer from the SEC, many expected him to make an impact with the Wildcats at some point. But it didn’t happen early on. Ross did not see action in either of Kansas State’s first two games of the season. He also failed to earn a spot on the team’s depth chart.

The Wildcats are off to a 1-1 start this season. They will next be in action at 6 p.m. on Saturday against Army at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
