A tornado warning has been issued for Lee's Summit, Grandview and Belton until 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

"Any tornado is going to most likely rain wrapped and very difficult to see, don't wait to see it, TAKE SHELTER NOW," the Weather Service tweeted at about 9:10 p.m.

The warning extends to Osawatomie, Kan., Drexel and Freeman until 9:30 p.m.

An earlier warning for southern Johnson County expired at 9:15 p.m.
