A tornado warning has been issued in Johnson County until 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The warning is for Olathe, Gardner and Spring Hill.

"Take cover now if you are in southern Johnson Co KS as Tornado warning is currently valid," the National Weather Service tweeted.

The warning extends to southeastern Miami County, according to police scanner traffic.

The warning has now extended to Osawatomie, Kan., Drexel and Freeman until 9:30 p.m.

It's also extended to Lee's Summit, Grandview and Belton until 9:45 p.m.

A line of severe thunderstorms are expected to move through the southwest Kansas City metro area, mainly south of I-70. Winds up to 70 mph, with large hail and a possible tornado are expected.
