WHEN/WHERE: 8 p.m. Wednesday; at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, Commerce City, Colo.

TV/RADIO: KMCI-TV (Ch. 38); 99.3 FM, KDTD (1340 AM)

ABOUT SPORTING KC (4-5-2, 14 points): In a six-match winless streak, the club has fallen to sixth place in the Western Conference. It has held a lead for only 25 minutes since its last victory on April 9, though it has recorded two draws during that time frame. Sporting KC is nearing full health, but with a string of six matches in 22 days, coach Peter Vermes might elect to rest some of its regulars in the midweek tilt.

ABOUT COLORADO (6-2-2, 20 points): The Rapids have enjoyed their best 10-game start in club history and sit atop the Western Conference table. They have won all five home matches, allowing only two goals during the five. Jermaine Jones has been a welcomed addition, scoring three goals and adding two assists in four games since making his Rapids debut last month.

BOTTOM LINE: The two teams have headed in opposite direction over the past four weeks, and Colorado has won the past three meetings between the two clubs.

PREDICTION: Colorado 2, Sporting KC 1
