The 2014 World Cup is right around the corner. How close? The first match (Brazil vs. Croatia) is June 12 and exactly one month from today, the United States will take the field against Ghana in the group stage of the international tournament.

The U.S. will definitely have a bit of revenge on its mind — Ghana has eliminated the Yanks in the last two World Cups. Sporting KC’s duo of Graham Zusi and Matt Besler are very likely to be part of that game.

The match is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Monday, June 16 in Natal, Brazil.

Consider this your one-month reminder to call off work early or reschedule plans.

Because, in case you’ve forgotten, Kansas City went a just a little bit nuts during the World Cup back in 2010.

This was the scene for the U.S.-Ghana game at the P&L District:

This was the reaction when Landon Donovan hit the penalty that pull the U.S. back level at 1-1 in the second half.

Keep in mind: These scenes were before the Sporting KC rebrand, before Sporting Park opened, and before the U.S. Open Cup and MLS Cup trophies.

Basically, this was all before soccer-fever took hold in KC. What in the world will it be like now? Buckle up.
