Sporting Kansas City will host Stoke City of the Barclays Premier League in an Aug. 1 friendly at Livestrong Sporting Park.
Founded in 1863, Stoke City is the oldest club in the Premier League. Its top player is forward Peter Crouch, an England international with 22 goals in 42 appearances.
“We look forward to welcoming Stoke City during their preparation for the 2012-13 Premier League season,” Sporting Club CEO Robb Heineman said in a statement. “Kansas City continues to be a destination for international soccer matches and this will be another opportunity for us to showcase Sporting Kansas City and Livestrong Sporting Park this summer.”
Sporting KC hosted Newcastle United at Livestrong last July and Manchester United in front of 52,000 fans at Arrowhead Stadium in 2010.
Ticket prices for the Aug. 1 match will begin at $20 and go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Wednesday through
and the LSP box offices. Season ticket holders and half-season plan holders will receive tickets to the match as part of their ticket packages and also have access to additional single-game tickets through an exclusive pre-sale on Ticketmaster beginning at 10 a.m. Monday.
