Olympic news: Bunbury invited to U.S. U-23 camp, schedule for CONCACAF qualifying released

In a bit of news that's not the least bit surprising, Sporting Kansas City forward Teal Bunbury has been added to the United States Under-23 Men's National Team roster for training camp Dec. 15-23.

Bunbury was one of six forwards invited to the 28-player camp in preparation for the 2012 CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

Hey, speaking of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament CONCACAF has unveiled the schedule for the tournament, which begins on March 22 and runs through April 2, with the final game here at Livestrong Sporting Park.

Group A (featuring the U.S., El Salvador, Canada and Cuba) will begin play in Nashville, Tennessee, on Thursday, March 22, with Group B (featuring Mexico, Honduras, Panama and Trinidad & Tobago) in the Los Angeles suburb of Carson to follow the next day. The groups will alternate play for the next four days, with the United States taking on northern neighbor Canada on March 24 and Mexico clashing with defending champion Honduras on March 25.

The semifinals will be at Livestrong on Saturday, March 31 with the Group B winner taking on the Group A runner-up at 5 p.m. and the Group A winner taking on the Group B runner-up at 8 p.m.

The championship is Monday, April 2 at 7 p.m. Both teams who play in the championship game will qualify for the 2012 Olympics.
