MatchDay #25: The importance of earning three points

Win and move up the standings (to second place). Lose and slip backwards (to fifth).

Yep, it's an old-fashioned "six-pointer" when Sporting Kansas City and DC United square off this evening.

It's a big game for both squads. It's also, oddly enough, the first time these two teams have met this year.

With just two points separating them in the Eastern Conference (KC have 33 points through 24 games, DC have 31 through 23), Sporting can open up a five-point gap on United or fall 1-point behind (hence, "six-pointer").

Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. at Livestrong Sporting Park. If you can't make it out, Callum Williams and Jake Yadrich will have the call on KSMO-TV.

And, this should go without saying, but

please don't throw in anything on the field
