The makeshift squad featured five guest trialists and five academy players. Scott Lorenz and Korede Aiyegbusi were the only two players to feature in an MLS game this season. The weakened squad was a necessity as the majority of the Sporting squad were training at Swope Park yesterday in preparation for a friendly against Newcastle United tomorrow night at Livestrong Park.
The Fire, unbeaten so far in Reserve League action, received goals from Orr Barouch and Manny Guzman. KC's goal was scored by guest trialist Dwayne James with an assist by new signee Daneil Cyrus -- seeing action for the first time since preseason.
Fellow new signee, 18-year-old Soony Saad, played 45 minutes for Kansas City.
Sporting Kansas City are 1-2-2 in the Central/Mountain Division of the MLS Reserve League. The next game in league action is August 8th against COlorado at Livestrong Sporting Park.
