Besler, Bravo named to MLS All-Star gameday roster

Defender Matt Besler and forward Omar Bravo will represent Sporting Kansas City as the MLS All-Stars face Manchester United at Red Bull Stadium on July 27 (7:30 p.m. on ESPN2 and Galavision). On Monday, New York Red Bull and MLS All-Star coach Hans Backe set the 22-man gameday roster.

Besler was voted via text message, Bravo selected by commissioner Don Garber. The last time Kansas City was represented in the All-Star game was in 2009, when Davy Arnaud was a coaches selection.

The 22-man roster in 2011 features MLS stars Landon Donovan, Thierry Henry and David Beckham. Also included are former Kansas City midfielder Jack Jewsbury and young USA forward Juan Agudelo (picked by Garber).

Backe selected goalkeepers Tally Hall (Houston) and Faryd Mondrago (Philadelphia) to replace Kasey Keller (Champions League game the next night). Other notable coaches' selections: defenders
