Gold Cup update: Thomas goes 90, Rocastle has 'ligament damage'

In Friday's Gold Cup action, Sporting KC's Shavar Thomas went 90 minutes in Jamaica's 2-0 victory over Guatemala while Roger Espinoza sat out Honduras' 7-1 thrashing of Grenada.

Craig Rocastle missed the game for Grenada with a knee injury. According to this article,

Rocastle said he might have "some ligament damage" in his left knee

.

Ugh. If he misses any more time than he planned from the Gold Cup, that's a huge blow to Sporting. One of the things KC was missing on Thursday night was Rocastle's ability to marshal the game from the midfield with his passing.

In other Gold Cup news: Five Mexican players on the Cup roster have been suspended for testing positive for a banned substance.

According to the Mexican government, "tainted beef" isn't the reason for the positive tests.

The U.S. national team is back in action, taking on Panama live from Tampa this evening at 7:30 p.m. on Fox Soccer Channel.
