A Quick Kickoff: Henry scores, Collin Q&A and a video preview of SKC-New England

The Morning Kickoff is a quickie today, apologies.

• Looks like Thierry Henry

isn't

washed up afterall. He got two goals in

the New York Red Bulls 4-0 thrashing of DC United.

Not to be out-done, Juan Agudelo went and

did this

for the game's last goal. (Do you think possibly the young star learned that move from Henry? Reminds me of

this goal.

MLSsoccer.com did a Q with new KC defender Aurelien Collin.

Good stuff.

"I am hard worker. I try to play good football as much as I can, but I am a central defender, so defending is first for me. I love to play football. We’ll see what I can bring to the team. The one thing that is for sure is that I will give 100 percent for the team."

• MLS president Mark Abbott told the Associated Press Sports Editors that

the league wouldn't have a promotion/relegation system in the near future.

While I don't think prom/rel is a bad idea in general, I think it's a terrible idea for America. There's too much money involved from the ownership groups to have the possibility of them slipping out of the top flight. That includes Kansas City.

Plus, since MLS is a single-entity system, how in the heck it even work? Would MLS assume control of the USL/NASL/USSF/MISL/Whatever? You'd need a minimum of 32 teams to even dream of that scenario. MLS can barely, sort of (at times) keep up with the 18 teams it has!

• With Agudelo seemingly a lock for inclusion on the Gold Cup roster and with

Herculez Gomez rediscovering his scoring touch in Mexico

... is Teal Bunbury a lock to make the U.S. roster? Was he ever a lock?

• Finally: Manager Peter Vermes, captain Davy Arnaud and defender Roger Espinoza preview Sporting KC's game this weekend in New England.
