The Morning Kickoff: Open Cup win means extra home game for KC

The Morning Kickoff is your start-the-day-right collection of stories, opinions, news and videos from around the globe. We scour the Web, you click the link.

Sporting Kansas City got the best of Houston last night in

the U.S. Open Cup thanks to a lone overtime goal from CJ Sapong.

Obviously, the best news out of last night's win is that many KC fans will get to see the team in person before June 9.

The only question is where will the game be played?

The "home" game will be against either DC United or the New England Revolution. The date -- like the location -- has yet to be determined.

Speaking of New England,

the Revs drew 1-1 in Vancouver last night in an absolutely crazy game: 20 shots, 6 yellow cards, 3 reds and a stoppage time tie-maker.

One of the reds was issued to Vancouver DP Eric Hassli (his second red of the year!). It has to be seen to be believed.

I'll let you decide which celebration is more ridiculous: Hassli's or Neymar's.

There's a new Sporting KC podcast on the market, hosted by The Daily Wiz's Andy Edwards and Trent McGee.

It's "Ted and Trent Talkin' Touches." US U-20s eliminated 2-1 from World Cup qualifying by Guatemala.
Real Salt Lake will face Monterrey in the CONCACAF Champions League final.

In yesterday's Champions League fixtures,

Barcelona destroyed Shakhtar

and

Wayne Rooney gave United the edge over Chelsea. Rooney's 2-game ban for his potty mouth has been upheld. The strangest story of the day: LeBron James is now a minority owner of Liverpool.

Oh, you're all welcome that I didn't link to the Justin Bieber training with Barcelona story/video.
