Sporting KC take home MLS Desert Cup trophy after 2-2 draw

A trophy is a trophy -- even if it was earned in a 2-2 draw in a preseason game, right?

Sporting Kansas City and the New York Red Bulls ended up tied at the end of regulation in the 2011 MLS Desert Cup with the trophy going to KC by virtue of having scored the most goals in the Cup. Marking the first time in modern memory that Sporting has been able to make that claim.

KC's goals game from Davy Arnaud in the 20th minute from a Kei Kamara assist. Kamara then converted a 61st-minute penalty kick after rookie CJ Sapon was taken down in the box by New York defender Tim Ream.

New York collected goals by designated player Theirry Henry in the first half and Dane Richards int he second.
