Sporting KC International: Auvray, Guadeloupe Gold Cup bound

The semifinals for the Digicel Caribbean Cup are now set, and will feature three Sporting Kansas City players after Guadeloupe and captain Stephane Auvray managed to

slip past Antigua Barbuda 1-0 on Wednesday

. In the other result, which clinched the semifinal spot for Guadeloupe,

Jamaica trounced Guyana 4-0

. KC's Shavar Thomas did not play.

The next round of games will be Friday, when Guadeloupe faces Cuba in the first semifinal and Jamaica faces Grenada (and KC midfielder Craig Rocastle). All four teams have qualified for the 2011 Gold Cup hosted by the United States.

To further compound the situation, as pointed out by

Down The Byline

, Sporting KC might have a serious clump of players missing from the first team: Auvray, Thomas, Rocastle, Roger Espinoza (if Honduras finishes at least fifth in the UNCAF Nation's Cup this winter), Teal Bunbury (if the U.S. calls him up) and Omar Bravo (if called up by Mexico).
