The Full 90

Playoff Picture: No great gains for KC, no great losses either

This weekend's MLS results didn't exactly help Kansas City's playoff chances. But they didn't exactly hurt them either.

Toronto, Seattle and Chicago left points on the table while Chivas and Philadelphia inched closer to entering the picture.

So where does each team stand as we enter the homestretch of the Major League Soccer season?

Thoughts on What This Might Mean

• Seattle and Toronto will obviously have to deal with the four extra CONCACAF Champions League games, and, given Toronto's recent slide, they might not be a factor in the playoff race come October.

• Chicago has a fairly tough road ahead, nobody has a tougher six-game streak than @RSL, SEA, @SJ, @FCD, CMB and KC.

• With 8 games remaining, Chicago, San Jose and KC have a higher ceiling for points earned than Seattle and Toronto.

• October 23 is giong to be a huge day: San Jose vs. Kansas City should be a playoff-spot game, Real Salt Lake vs. Colorado has Supporter's Shield implications, D.C. United and Chivas USA could play spoiler to Toronto and Chicago respectively.
