OMAHA, Neb. — Omaha's new Major Indoor Soccer League team will be called the Vipers.
The expansion team announced earlier this month will play at the 9,300-seat Civic Auditorium beginning in November. The schedule has not been released. The team name was announced this past week. The Vipers will provide a Midwestern rivalry for the Missouri Comets, who were added to the MISL this summer as well.
The Comets will play in the Independence Events Center with the season beginning on Nov. 12.
The addition of Omaha gives the MISL seven teams. The others are in Baltimore; Kansas City; Milwaukee; Philadelphia; Rockford, Ill.; and Monterrey, Mexico.
The Omaha team's majority owner is Frank Onate, who owns and operates a chain of Mexican restaurants in Nebraska and three nearby states.
