Kansas City's rookie striker Teal Bunbury has been suspended one game and fined $250 by the Major League Soccer Disciplinary Committee, the league announced Thursday. Bunbury will miss this Saturday's game against the New England Revolution.
Bunbury was involved in an altercation during a free kick in the San Jose Earthquakes game last weekend. He caught Quakes defender Tim Ward in the head and knocked him to the ground. No foul was called on the player. San Jose defender Jason Hernandez was later ejected for violent conduct after he elbowed Bunbury in the throat. Hernandez was suspended an additional game and had his fine doubled.

The suspension is probably a fair one and will hurt the team as Bunbury has given the team a real physical threat up top. As for the fine? Guess Bunbury won't be picking up Madden 11 this week.
