• Now for some really good news about midfielder Stephane Auvray...
• Thad from The Back Post isreporting that Auvray is now no longer taking up an international slot
. He's got a green card. No word on his injury situation right now or whether he'll be on the bench this Saturday in Dallas.
• I wish I had some news to give you about the Eidur Gudjohnsen to the Wizards story. I don't. According toGoal.com
, Fulham are now trying to line up a deal with the Icelandic striker. Actually, Goal.com goes just a wee bit further than that.
"Eidur Gudjohnsen has agreed a move to Fulham if Tottenham Hotspur fail to either extend his current loan deal or sign him on a permanent basis this summer.
According to the News of the World, the Iceland international striker is becoming increasingly frustrated by the current situation at White Hart Lane as he looks to resolve his long term future."
I applaud the Wizards efforts to bring a guy like Gudjohnsen to Kansas City, but it's just looking more and more like this isn't going to happen. Fulham AND Tottenham offer the chance of European play (which means more money) as well as London living. On to the next designated player rumors, huh? (Of course, this is far from over. Until I see "Gudjohnsen signs with ___________," I'll hold out hope. After all, we offer significantly more "ice" than London. We probably offer more "ice" than Iceland. ... See what I did there?)
