One day after all English Premier League teams were eliminated from Champions League competition, Fulham and Liverpool reached the Europa League semifinals.
Fulham extended its remarkable European run by ousting German champion Wolfsburg on Thursday. Bobby Zamora scored after 21 seconds to build on Fulham's first-leg lead and send the London club through 3-1 on aggregate.

If Fulham is to reach the final in Hamburg it must now eliminate the German club, which reached the semifinals by beating Standard Liege 5-2 over two legs. Thursday's score was 3-1.
Liverpool will play Atletico Madrid in the other semifinal after overturning a 2-1 first-leg deficit to advance 5-3 on aggregate thanks to a 4-1 victory.
Atletico went through on more away goals in its 2-2 draw at Valencia last Thursday; the second leg ended 0-0.
Clint Dempsey didn't factor into the Fulham side today, but, by popular demand, here's the goal he scored for Fulham against Juventus. I've always kinda liked Fulham, so it's good to see them do well in Europe.
Blog note: Sorry for the slightly sporadic nature of updates this week. I had intended to do updates like these the last few days, but having more than one job sure hacks into the time you'd like to devote to a part-time endeavor. We'll do better in the future. Thanks for keepin' on keepin' on with the comments.
