Three Kansas City-area youth soccer teams competed in pool play Tuesday at the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships in Tulsa, Okla.
The KC Metro Dynamos defeated VSA Heat 96 Blue (Va.) 3-1 in under-18 girls play. KC Metro netted second-half goals in the 48th and 61st minutes from Madison Holmes and Brooke Prondzinski, respectively, to provide the final margin and tally three points.
On the boys side, Sporting KC Academy won its first game of the under-15 slate 5-2 over South Carolina United FC 99. Max Rugova netted the first two goals for Sporting KC Academy.
In under-15 girls action, the Futura Pink Panthers dropped their opening contest 5-0 to Girls Legends FC-99 (Calif.). Futura yielded two goals in the opening five minutes and couldn’t bounce back.
Each age group is divided into two smaller groups for pool play. At the conclusion of pool play, which ends Thursday, the top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals.
