In this week’s installment of the podcast, Andy Edwards (NBC Sports Pro Soccer Talk) and Charles Gooch (The Full 90) dissect Sporting Kansas City’s 1-0 win over New York City FC and the rest of the MLS action.

In part one, Andy and Charles look at Kansas City’s re-worked defense, dig into some interesting numbers for Graham Zusi and the team’s continued struggles in front of goal. Give it a listen here (or on iTunes, RSS or the show’s podcast page).

Part two is all about the MLS. And, boy, this last weekend really wasn’t the best advertisement for America’s top soccer league. With multiple teams missing key players, Andy and Charles bring up the question again: Why does the league continue to insist on playing through FIFA international dates?

Also discussed: Vancouver vs. Portland, Columbus vs. New York Red Bulls, Montreal vs. Orlando City and New England vs. San Jose.

Special thanks to the excellent band Deco Auto for letting us use the songs “One of a Million,” “Turning Down” and “Deco Stomp.” Listen to more of their music here.
