The Chiefs are hopeful cornerback Phillip Gaines can play at Chicago on Saturday.

Gaines has missed the first two preseason games as he recovers from knee surgery. The Chiefs used different starters at right cornerback in those games.

“There’s a good chance he’ll play,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. “We’ll see how he feels.”

Ruled out of Saturday’s game: running backs Jamaal Charles, Charandrick West and Trey Millard; linebackers Tamba Hali, Dezman Moses, Justin Houston and Josh Mauga; and quarterback Tyler Bray.

Reid said the starters will play the first half “and I’ll see about the second half. There’s a good chance they’ll (start) the second half. Then we’ll go the twos, threes.”

Fourth quarterback Kevin Hogan could see playing time.
