Chiefs special teams coach Dave Toub raised eyebrows in training camp when he said rookie return man Tyreek Hill was faster than Devin Hester, perhaps the greatest return man in NFL history.
Toub coached Hester for much of his career with the Chicago Bears, the Chiefs opponent in Saturday’s third preseason game. Kickoff is noon.
On Wednesday, Toub pumped the brakes on the comparison.
“I said that (Hill is faster) but Tyreek has a long way to go to be in the same category as a Devin Hester,” Toub said. “You’ve got to do it on the field, and (Hill) hasn’t broken out yet. It hasn’t happened in game.

“We’ve seen some spurts in practice, but he’s got a long way to go.”
Toub called Hester, the 33-year-old veteran who is looking for a job after being released by the Falcons last month “crazy good.” Hester holds NFL records 14 punt return touchdowns and 20 return touchdowns (overall).
