For the second straight game, cornerback Phillip Gaines was listed as inactive by the Chiefs.

Gaines is returning from knee surgery, suffered in the third week last season, and a sore ankle. He’s been limited in practice during the preseason.

Also not suiting up for the Chiefs among those who participated in training camp in St. Joseph are quarterback Tyler Bray, linebackers Josh Mauga and Dezman Moses, running back Charcandrick West and Rakeem Nunez-Roches.

Bray injured his neck in last week’s preseason opener against the Seahawks when he was slammed to the turf just before halftime.

The others on the inactive list are running back Jamaal Charles, who joined Chiefs’ practice earlier this week, and Tamba Hali, Justin Houston and Eric Berry.
