In their second day of pads Tuesday, the Chiefs worked on punt returns at training camp and the return men, in order, were Frankie Hammond, Tyreek Hill and De’Anthony Thomas.

Special teams coach Dave Toub figuratively put up a stop sign when asked if there was meaning to the order.

“No, not until we play a game,” Toub said. “I think it’ll just sort itself out. You never go live at training camp, so you never know what you’ve got. After the first preseason game, we’ll know a lot more.”

But Hill, the rookie from West Alabama, has Toub’s attention not just for his speed but his ability to catch the ball.

“He’s got great, great catching,” Toub said. “For a rookie, he’s really advanced (as) a punt catcher. That’s number one, and then he’s got a really quick first step. We think he’s strong and we think he’s tough.”

The second day in pads at Chiefs training camp brings a few injuries. Chris Jones comments on camp. Rod Streater and Tyreek Hill have big days.
